The government announced a 40% subsidy for up to 3 kW system but it was difficult to get due to the unavailability of funds during the pandemic. It’s available for residential homeowners who install on-grid solar systems. It is provided by the state Discom company after submitting the complete installation documents on their portal.
After availing of the subsidy, a 3kW rooftop solar system in MP would cost you around Rs. 2.5 lakhs, only. In order to qualify for the subsidy, one must buy the solar panels that are manufactured in India only.
Step 1: Visit National Rooftop Solar Portal
Step 2: Click on 'Register here'
Step 3: Consumer Login Process
a. Select State: Select State corressponding to address where you want Rooftop Solar installation - Madhya Pradesh
b. Select Power Distribution Company: Select Electricity Distribution Company / Utility based on State you selected from above

c. Consumer Account Number: Enter Consumer Account Number from your Electricity Bill of the address where you want Rooftop Solar installation
Then, Check Confirm box and click on Next button.

- Please follow as per the direction from the portal
Step 4: Login to Apply for Rooftop Solar
Step 5: Wait for Feasibility approval from DISCOM
Wait for the feasibility approval from DISCOM. Once you get the feasibility approval install the plant by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM
Step 6: Submit the Rooftop Solar Plant Report
After installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM, they will generate commissioning certificate from portal
Step 7: Apply for Solar Subsidy
Once you got the commissioning report submit bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. Subsidy will come your account within 30 working days
